It is very embarrassing when someone you know calls you to say that he/she recieved an email from you - an email which you didn't send, a spam email for that matter.

It would be the 2nd time, this particular client of mine contacts me to tell me about some email, appearing to be from my inbox in his inbox. Some couple of minutes was that 2nd time.

Here is a screenshot of the spam email

Dear Sir,
I have read some of your publications especially those on Education and Health. I know your efforts in the realization of a permanent site for Augustine University. God bless your committed efforts.

Please sir, I am a graduate of English from the University of Lagos and the University of Nigeria Nsukka respectively. I am interested in being a lecturer and I felt I should contact you so that you'd assist me in achieving my dream.

I will like to have your email address so I can forward my resume to you.

I look forward to hearing from you, and I thank you immensely for reading my message.

Sincerely yours,
Nneka Enwelum

Notice my email address after "from: Nneka Enwelum"

While I understand that my email address is public property as it is used for my domain registration, web-design and hosting services, I totally dont understand why someone would use it for spam.

My email-inbox is definitely not hacked, but the mail looks like those ones generated from bulk mail softwares that collect mails-addresses from the internet, and use such for spam-related purposes.

So I got searching on google.

A search for the above senders details email address yeilds:

to nneka enwelum-2

So I thought it was some company listed online, I checked out the 'overseas admission placement - lagos, Nigeria' link.

Notice below that the phone number: Tel:08037143091 is the same as the one in the mail and in the screenshot below.

Meaning, whoever is behind the above business might be Nneka Enwelum.

Hmm, so I thought of calling the number and giving him/her a washdown, whether it was done intentionally or out of error, but I let it be.

We will observe more closely and take appropriate action soonest.
