It was my 400th post on Nairaland. I didnt plan it to be that way, but it happened: shit hit the roof - when web4africa decided to trash talk on me.

I am usually on the Webmasters lounge. I'm a quiet guy, usually passing by, trying to see what I can learn from web-related problems / solutions to problems; looking for someone to help - for free. In the process, I make friends, contacts, etc. The helping part has really helped me to learn a lot.

So what happened on NL?

A NL user with nic "javijabor1" started the post titled: WHOGOHOST: Why I Will Never Use A Nigerian Host Again, a complaint about Whogohost's services, downtime and an eventual loss of customer's data, followed by only an email from Whogohost's owners.

My first response to the poster was the following:

web4africa still sucks

I was just as candid as possible. All I wanted to say is all I said, which was: I stopped using Nigerian companies for my webhosting since I got scammed by Web4Africa".

Web4africa came trolling and trash talking...as if his name was innocent....

web4africa still sucks2

He said:

Really? Provide your evidence or zip it. Stop the spurious allegations without evidence. More so, your words need to be taken with a pinch of salt considering your username. Your intentions seem clear enough.

In one breath you're bashing "nigerian companies" and in the next, promoting your own mushroom operation. That tells a lot about your integrity.

I believe that "web4africa' user is Niyi Ajao himself. The reply was so proud and cocky, exactly how I remember him replying my mails to him years ago, when as a customer, I complained about my requested services for 1-whole year, 365-days:

He never apologized for anything, never apologized for not replying emails on time, never apologized for what I complained about. I called and called their support lines. I chatted and chatted and chatted with whoever was on their support chat. I sent countless emails to and fro. Niyi always tried to push on me; push the blame on wordpress, on phpmyadmin, on joomla, on drupal, on everyscript I complained about. He said he doesnt provide support for any of the scripts on his script installer. I didnt ask him to rewrite the script, I just complained that installation attempts on each of them failed.

So I had to ask? why are you running a webhosting company if all the most common scripts are not working on your servers and you still maintain there is no issue from your end.

Are you asking me? all I wanted to do was install wordpress, either manually or via the script installer. I even got some peeps from wordpress support forum to try and install it for me; gave them my cpanel details, etc. They referred me back to Web4africa, that they should check their servers. I did the same thing with some guys from Joomla forums. They referred me back to the hosting company.

After a while, I began to pity myself for even making payment for the service in the first place. That was then. Why did I go for a Nigerian company? Why not just godaddy or some other foreign host? What was I looking for in Africa / Nigeria that I now entered one-chance with web4africa?

To prove web4africa wrong, I registered a domain name with godaddy, paid for hosting, installed wordpress via their script installer and whalla, wordpress site was up the same day. Next day, I uninstalled it and installed it again. It still worked. Then I went on to Joomla, Drupal, etc. Meanwhile, Web4Africa was still blaming wordpress and other script authors.

Back to NL: anyway, after giving him a dose of his own medicine, I guess, the snail in him curled back into his shell with shame. Here is my reply to him:

Chief,

If you are a new staff of Web4Africa, please take your time. And if you are Mr. Ajao himself, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Spurious allegations without evidence? a pinch of salt? intentions? oh really? mushroom operation? how proud of you to say so.

Your comment is very full of disdain.

I am the one who first registered nairabytes.com with web4africa.

Why not google the domain name and see what you will come up with.

Did you see how much it costs now? Why?

Check the domains history online.

It was a whole year of back and forth emails with you and your team and my site never came online. Check your email history and see what you can find.

At the end of a whole year of not providing me the service I paid for, Mr Niyi still had the guts to send me a facebook add-request, send me a link asking how I enjoyed their 1-year hosting service, send me a linkedin connection request, and another mail saying I should renew my services or loose my data.

Which data? I was like, is this not the same guy who has been trying to fix the hosting for a whole year?

regards
HK

Ps:

1) No, Im not bashing Nigerian hosting companies, Im just saying:

I once got scammed by Web4Africa

afterwhich I realized I was not the only one.

2) After I got scammed by Niyi and his company, I shined my eyes, got my hands dirty-technically speaking and I set out to learn the ropes, do it myself and help others!!!

This is the whole 9-yards!!!

web4africa still sucks3

web4africa still sucks4

Since then, web4africa has not replied to the above.

So where did all of the above come from?

I thought I was over with Web4Africa, but Oluniyi Ajao and his gang still got on my nerves. Just to give you a brief history, this is the first domain I ever registered:nairabytes.com. I paid web4africa for domain registration and hosting.

web4africa still sucks5

I was dissappointed, I was let down, it was the first time I got scammed. Unfortunately, my eyes were wide open all through. I blamed myself: how can a fellow Nigerian dupe me? how can a fellow Nigerian dupe another Nigerian. Not even a simple "sorry". Not even an attempt to make things right?

The stupid Niyi Ajao guy even had the guts to send me friends request on facebook, linkedin, skype, etc. What kind of a human being does that?

After 7-years web4africa, I think it suffices to say that Web4Africa still sucks, Niyi has not changed. He has the guts to still accuse me thus:
