I recently installed Lubuntu, and indeed its lives up to expectation as far as "light-weight" is concerned.
tokunbo@ubuntu:~$ cat /etc/*-release
VERSION="12.10, Quantal Quetzal"
PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu quantal (12.10)"
Joomla 1.5.x.x was used for testing purposes.
To get Blogillo running, first prepare Joomla: download, install and enable the following plugins for your Joomla 1.5 installation:
1) System - Real Simple Discovery (RSD): http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/rsd/frs/
2) XML-RPC - metaWeblog API: http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/metaweblogapi/frs/
Disable all other xml-rpc related plugins. Now, find and install Blogillo from the Lubuntu Software center: System tools >> Lubuntu Software center.
When Lubuntu Software Center opens, in the GET SOFTWARE tab, click INTERNET, scroll down to find BLOGILLO BLOGGING CLIENT
Select it and click ADD TO APPS BASKET button.
Click the APPS BASKET button at the top and click Install Packages.
If app installed successfully, you'll see a Lubuntu Apps Installed Successfully - message.
Blogillo is now available under the internet menu item:
To configure blogillo for Joomla, here are the main settings: quite similar to that of a previous post for an Ubuntu installation, but this time, we are using MetaWeblog API.
1) add a new blog
click on the Basic tab
click Blog >> Add Blog and use the following settings:
Blog homepage url: http://www.mydomain.com/xmlrpc/index.php
username = your username
password = your password
2) click on the advanced tab
Api: select Metaweblog API
click fetch ID to fecth blog's ID
Click OK to close
Again, click OK to close.
Thats all Folks!!
Click on New Post to start blogging.
