The following is a continuation of my installation notes for Debian 6.0.6 Squeeze. Installation of applications is in no particular order. My objective is to reproduce tools I use in my windows partition on Debian.

14) INSTALL A SCREENSHOT TOOL:

Gnome-screenshot is a small nifty tool that gets the job done.

command: apt-get install gnome-panel-screenshot

15) SOME INSTALLABLES FROM SYNAPTIC PACKAGE MANAGER:

The following, and more, are available from Synaptic.

a) gimp - for image manipulation

b) gtkvncviewer - a VNC client

c) gnome-rdp - a remote desktop client. Gnome-rdp needs xtightvncviewer to be installed for its VNC functionality.

d) ntfs-3g -  My USB flash drive always mounts as a read-only file-system. Couldn't save on, copy to or create a directory To resolve this issue, I installed ntfs-3g and rebooted my PC.

e) Blogillo - blogging client. To get this configured for Joomla, refer to this tutorial: Install Blogillo on Lubuntu 12.10 and configure it for Joomla publishing

f) Open Office

g) Evolution email client. You might want to consider moving Evolution's default finstallation folder to a different partition - after installation.

h) Wine
